OpenAI launched ChatGPT for Financial Services on September 10, built on GPT-6 Astra with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as design partners, per Bloomberg. It builds valuation models and pitchbooks from a bank's own templates. The stakes fall on the terminal vendors. OpenAI hosts some of their data directly inside the product and reduces others to a login screen.
Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase are indexed and hosted by OpenAI, which lets the model cite specific figures back to their source. S&P Capital IQ, FactSet, MSCI and Moody's aren't hosted. Bankers reach them only through sign-in or MCP connectors. OpenAI can't index or cite what sits behind that login.
A hosted source sits inside the model's working memory. A connector is a door it has to knock on first. Banks renewing a data contract next cycle have to weigh whether staying behind that door still keeps analysts using their numbers. Getting cited inline keeps a vendor in the workflow. A connector risks becoming a step traders route around.
The same day, Amazon started selling ChatGPT ad inventory through its DSP. ChatGPT ads have reportedly reached a $1B annualized run rate, according to CNBC.
