It also outputs an MCP server that hands agents typed tools and SDK guides, a step no rival platform ships standard.
Why now: The repo pushed its latest commit the morning of September 12.
Cortex turns one spec file into typed SDKs, docs and an MCP server, per its GitHub repo. Fern, Stoplight and ReadMe charge monthly for exactly that combination: SDK generation, hosted docs and agent integration. Cortex does it under an MIT license, for free.
The tool reads OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, GraphQL, gRPC, OpenRPC and custom Markdown from a single project config, then generates SDKs in multiple languages. The repo has 64 stars and pushed its latest commit the morning of September 12.
The MCP server is new. It hands agents typed tools, the underlying specs and SDK guides directly.
The repo doesn't say how it handles versioning across breaking spec changes. It also doesn't say whether the generated SDKs match a paid tool's polish after years of fixes. Sixty-four stars is early traction, not proof the generation holds up at scale.
Teams already paying Fern or ReadMe may now run Cortex against their specs as a side-by-side test. If the SDKs hold up, the case for a subscription doc platform gets harder to make. Smaller teams without enterprise support needs have the least reason to pay.

If you wrote an MCP server before July, it's on a protocol shape the maintainers have already removed. Not deprecated-with-a-migration-window. Removed from the spec. MCP lead maintainers David Soria Parra and Den Delimarsky published an updated roadmap on August 22, and the re...
EchoVault solves the "agent amnesia" problem — coding agents forgetting everything between sessions. It runs as an MCP server giving agents three tools: memory_context (load prior decisions), memory_search (find specific memories), and memory_save (persist learnings). Storage...

Anthropic invented a file convention. It's now shipping GA inside a competitor's product. Nobody wrote a spec, nobody held a standards meeting, it just happened. On July 29, GitHub made agent skills and MCP server support generally available in Copilot code review for all Pro,...
Cline 0.0.23 fixed one wedged MCP server blocking the rest from shutting down and leaking their processes. Copilot CLI 1.0.83-5 fixed MCP tools becoming uncallable after a server restart, and 1.0.83-4 fixed agent-configured servers disappearing after built-in sub-agent turns....
