spiteware.ai launched September 12 as a directory for one kind of app, free tools built to replace something that started charging. Every submission has to name the product it replaces and the price that triggered the build. That rule turns the list into a running record of which subscription prices are pushing people to build free replacements instead of paying.

The site's own examples set the bar: a $14.99 a month subscription, a Pro-tier upgrade wall, per-seat licensing, and "Notion asked for $10."

Most directories sort by category or tech stack. This one sorts by grievance. Builders have to fill in both blanks, the price and the product it replaced.

Right now there isn't much to sort. The app count on spiteware.ai renders as a placeholder and the site reports $0.00 earned. It's a structure waiting for entries, not a dataset.

If entries pile up, the list becomes a record of which subscription prices pushed someone to spend a weekend building a replacement. That record would say something a churn dashboard can't. It would show which price point made someone angry enough to route around a product entirely.

Whether builders report their price triggers honestly is the open question. Nothing on the site checks the number against a receipt, so spite could become a label pasted onto an ordinary side project after the fact.
