An r/ClaudeAI user traced part of this week's quota burn to a specific shape: when a sub-agent finishes and you send it a follow-up, Claude Code rebuilds the conversation in a form the prompt cache doesn't recognize, so the next request re-sends and re-pays for nearly everything that agent read. It happens inside the 1-hour cache window; messages sent while the agent is still working are cheap. The same user separately found sub-agent prompt cache lifetime defaults to 5 minutes against the main conversation's 1 hour, and fixed that with a setting. Their weekly usage went 49% to 60% in one session while deliberately holding back. Filed with Anthropic, unconfirmed. The workaround is concrete either way: message sub-agents while they're running, not after.

This one changed how I'm spending my week. Anthropic's July 24 context-engineering post says they removed over 80% of Claude Code's system prompt for Opus 5 and Fable 5 with no measurable loss on coding evals. They call it "unhobbling" — stripping guardrails and rules that new...
An r/ClaudeAI post at 232 upvotes warns against treating it as an hour of reading, saying it tests whether you understand how agentic systems work instead of whether you've used Claude Code. 60 questions in 120 minutes, $125, scaled pass at 720/1000, valid 12 months, spanning...
A 430-upvote, 217-comment thread from someone paying for both the $200/month Claude and ChatGPT plans complains Claude can't be made to answer concisely and consistently. Separately, a user published a drop-in CLAUDE.md section built by diagnosing specific tics, adding them as...
A 167-upvote r/ClaudeAI thread with 79 comments asks what people mean by "their harness," and the answers cleanly separate the inner harness (Claude Code, Codex) from a custom outer loop supervising it. The same split shows up in a quoted Anthropic newsletter excerpt describin...
The full recordings include the keynote, a Dario and Daniela Amodei conversation, and a live coding session between Boris Cherny and Bun's Jarred Sumner. The engineering talks are where the value is: GitHub on caching, harnesses and advisors at scale, Datadog's universal machi...
Anthropic added it in 2.1.237 on August 20, selectable under Output style in /config or settings.json. The r/ClaudeAI thread asking whether it reduces consumption drew 219 upvotes and a clear consensus of no: cost sits in input context, file reads, and reasoning traces, not us...
