Open Design started selling its own model plan while remaining the open Claude Design alternative.

nexu-io/open-design v0.24.1 (September 24, 98,044 stars) launches a paid "Design Plan" at $8 for the first month, with higher tiers including up to $200 in credits, and an OpenDesign API key that works in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Hermes. (release) Same release stops clean agent exits showing as failed runs and adds opt-in redacted failure diagnostics. An open-source agent becoming a model reseller is a business-model pattern I expect to see repeated, and it puts the project's incentives somewhere new.
