CloudWatch Coding Agent Insights tracks tokens, cost, and cache hit rate for Claude Code, Codex, and Copilot without extra setup, per AWS.
Why now: AWS's what's-new post is dated to July, positioning this as the first cloud-native console built specifically for coding-agent telemetry.
AWS added Coding Agent Insights to CloudWatch, a console for tracking coding-agent spend across teams. It's the first cloud-native console built specifically to answer which teams should get expanded agent access and how to size their token budgets, per AWS.
The console pulls OpenTelemetry data from Claude Code, Codex, and GitHub Copilot into one view. It surfaces total tokens, cost, active users, sessions, cache hit rate, and active hours. Claude Code telemetry comes through with no extra instrumentation, routed via the Claude apps gateway for AWS.
It's live in every commercial AWS region except UAE, Bahrain, and Tel Aviv, per AWS's announcement. The announcement skips pricing entirely. It also doesn't say how long CloudWatch retains the metrics. And it doesn't address whether prompt content is ever visible next to the usage numbers.
AWS paired Amazon Quick with NVIDIA's NeMo Agent Toolkit for business-user agent workflows, per related coverage. Tradeshift's case study on Amazon Quick claims a 30x query speedup after replacing legacy BI with agentic AI, per that same coverage. Same company, same instinct: wire agent accounting into products you already run.
If you're running Claude Code across a team, this is the first vendor console that turns token usage into a query instead of a guess.
