Formerly Pando, the startup says its agents cut procure-to-pay cycles over 70% and aim to replace back-office teams, not sell them a tool.
Why now: The $75 million round became public on July 29, bringing Freehand's total funding to $100 million.
Freehand closed a $75 million Series B on July 29. The round bankrolls a pitch to cut back-office procurement teams and BPO contracts, not sell them software. Freehand names Meta, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Dunkin', Pfizer and Cardinal Health among roughly 50 customers already running its agents.
Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners co-led the round, joined by Nexus Venture Partners and former Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, per Crunchbase News. That brings total funding to $100 million for the company, formerly known as Pando.
Freehand pitches the opposite of Ramp: not corporate cards or employee expenses. Its agents read contracts, policies and email to verify invoices, negotiate with vendors and run procurement across 60 to 70 countries.
Freehand claims 5 to 10% of total spend recovered, workflows running 5 to 7 times faster, and procure-to-pay cycles cut more than 70%.
That cycle-time number points at who the product replaces. Freehand sells the removal of an existing back-office team, and the BPO contract behind it. It doesn't sell that team a faster way to work.
Crunchbase's reporting doesn't say how many roles or BPO seats current customers have actually cut. The no-headcount-added framing describes Freehand's own growth, not a confirmed cut at its customers. That's the number to watch as these 50 logos report full years under the product.
A $75 million check at these customer names says enterprise buyers will hand contract negotiation and vendor terms to an agent, not just spend categorization. That's a bigger trust jump than expense automation ever asked for.
Freehand hasn't published an error or dispute rate, only speed and recovery numbers. That's the metric a general counsel will want before the next renewal.
