A blogger reports GPT-6 Astra cracked an unsolved German ADFGVX message from November 1918
In a 2026-09-17 post, prinz says GPT-6 Astra decrypted a German radio message transmitted 1918-11-27, recovering TRUPPENVERSCHIEBUNG as the ADFGVX key and plaintext reading that an English cruiser arrived at Sevastopol with an allied squadron following on the 26th. The author's proposed explanation for why it stayed unsolved is that the key was not officially documented as in use until 1918-12-09, later than the message. Verification is the author's own: HMS Canterbury's logs record an English cruiser reaching Sevastopol on 1918-11-24 and an allied squadron on the 26th. Single-source and self-verified, with no independent cryptographic confirmation and no stated runtime, so treat the capability claim as unconfirmed.
