Session snapshots grew logs to tens of gigabytes because deleting old rows never freed disk space.
Why now: Anyone still on an older Cline CLI build carries the unbounded log until they update to 3.0.58.
Cline's CLI released v3.0.58 on August 24, fixing a bug that let its hub event log grow without limit. Events carrying full session snapshots piled up in the log. Deleting rows never shrank the file on disk, so some installs saw event logs balloon to tens of gigabytes, per the release notes. For anyone running the CLI continuously, an unbounded event log eats disk space with no upper limit.
The fix caps the log at 64 MiB. Oldest events drop first, and space gets reclaimed instead of just marked free. Pruning now runs on log volume as well as on a timer, so growth doesn't have to wait for the next scheduled cleanup. That closes the gap where a burst of snapshot-heavy events could grow the log faster than a timer-based cleanup would catch.
The same release changes the resolved default model for two providers, Aki.io and NanoGPT. Anyone using those providers without a pinned model gets routed to a different model without being asked.
