Why now: fx v0.0.6 posted to GitHub just after midnight UTC on August 25.
Vercel Labs released fx v0.0.6 just after midnight UTC on August 25, requiring every terminal.exec call to carry a timeout, per Vercel Labs' v0.0.6 release notes.
A call without a timeout now fails at the call site instead of running unbounded until something else stops it. That changes the failure mode from a hang to an error, which is easier to catch and log.
The rule sets timeout_ms between 1ms and 10 minutes on every terminal.exec call. Long-running services and file watchers move to terminal.start, the command built for processes that don't stop on their own. Anyone scripting fx needs to sort foreground commands from background ones before upgrading.
The release also drops three commands: /appearance, /input, and /maxxing, along with whatever settings users had saved under them.
New Gateway sessions default to Kimi K3 running in Fast mode instead of whatever model was previously set. A new /mcp add --transport http command adds remote Streamable HTTP MCP servers and reloads them immediately. The macOS arm64 binary is 6.12 MiB.
