Five Vendors Shipped the Same AI Gateway in Ten Days

Five vendors shipped the same AI gateway product within ten days, per Help Net Security.

Each sits between a company's existing apps and the AI agents calling them, metering every request for cost and policy control. That puts the recurring revenue in the metering layer, the layer every agent call must pass through before it reaches a model or app.

A10 Networks took its AI Gateway live on Aug. 14, a control plane for routing, cost and governance across every agent. SelectHub launched DataGrout the same day for token reduction and policy-driven cost monitoring in agentic workflows.

Snowflake shipped Cortex AI Gateway, built on its May Natoma acquisition, to enforce identity and audit at each agent tool call, per Snowflake's engineering blog.

AI/R had already put out AI/Cockpit One on Aug. 10, per GlobeNewswire. An open-source project, HarnessRouter, released its own gateway around the same time, per harnessrouter.ai.

Whichever gateway wins can lock in customers through the audit and policy history it accumulates, not through routing speed. A year of enforcement records on a company's agents is hard to migrate away from.
