EU AI Act Article 50 became enforceable August 2, turning audit logs from an enterprise upsell into a shipping requirement.
Why now: EU AI Act Article 50's transparency and GPAI enforcement powers took effect August 2, the same four-day window three vendors used to ship agent attribution features.
Cequence, Basedash and Microsoft shipped agent audit-trail features within four days, per company announcements and Product Hunt's August 1 leaderboard.
The timing isn't a coincidence. EU AI Act Article 50's transparency rules and GPAI enforcement powers became enforceable August 2, inside the same four-day window. Enterprise buyers evaluating any agent product now have a compliance question to ask, not just a feature to compare.
Cequence's AI Gateway added AI Discovery, an API Registry, an LLM Registry and a Skill Registry on July 30. Its Agent Personas bind a job description to a specific model, tool set and guardrail configuration. That lets a security team trace an action back to the persona that authorized it.
Basedash launched Audit Logs on Product Hunt August 1. It records every query its AI data analyst runs with full attribution, bundled with SSO, SCIM and row-level security. A BI tool is now treating query provenance the way security tools treat access logs.
Microsoft's Project Perception opens public preview August 3, with red, blue and green agents that document and deploy their own patches. That's beyond logging: the agents document the fix before deploying it.
Not every deadline landed the same way. A related report found the August 1 deadline in Trump's AI executive order passed with no public deliverables. The EU's enforcement date moved three companies' roadmaps in the same window; the U.S. deadline didn't visibly move anyone's.
Vendors that can't show which model, tool or persona produced an action now have a compliance gap. Harder to sell than a missing feature. Expect audit trails to show up as a line item in enterprise agent RFPs by year end, not as a premium tier.
